What we collect, and what we do with it.

This site collects very little: what you choose to send us through two forms or by email, and what every website receives when a page loads. Here is all of it, who else handles it, how long we keep it and how to have it corrected or deleted.

Who we are

E And J Wood Finish, a California corporation operating as E and J Furniture Manufacturer ("we", "us"), runs eandjfurniture.com. We manufacture upholstered furniture for other businesses. What we collect

Sent with it: how you reached the site (the search engine, site or campaign that sent you, or "direct") and the first page you opened, unless you switched analytics off or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. Every page request	Your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Every web server receives these to deliver a page.	To deliver the site and keep it secure.
Visit statistics (Google Analytics 4)	Pages viewed, the site that referred you, approximate location (country and city, derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics 4 does not store), device and browser type, script errors and how quickly pages loaded and responded, plus clicks on our phone and email links. Set with first-party cookies.	To see which pages are useful and to fix what is slow or broken.
Visit recordings (Microsoft Clarity)	Where you click, tap and scroll, how the pointer moves and how each page changes as you use it, which Clarity can replay as a recording of the visit, with the same device, browser and approximate location details. Whatever you type, in the forms or the library search, is masked in your browser before anything is sent.	To see where the site gets in someone's way.

We don't collect payment details, passwords or government ID numbers, and the forms don't accept files. Please don't put your date of birth, Social Security number or immigration documents in a job application.

How we use it

To answer briefs, prepare quotes and run the programs that follow.
To review job applications and contact applicants.
To operate, secure and improve the website.
To keep records the law requires, and to protect our rights if a dispute arises.

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We don't send marketing email or newsletters. If we ever do, we will ask first, and every message will carry a working unsubscribe link.

Who else handles it

These companies process information for us, only to provide their service:

Netlify, Inc. hosts the website and receives form submissions (United States).
Automattic Inc. (Akismet) screens form submissions for spam on Netlify's behalf.
Google LLC provides the email inbox that receives form notifications and email, and Google Analytics.
Microsoft Corporation provides Microsoft Clarity.

Otherwise we share personal information only if the law requires it, to protect people or our legal rights, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.

Cookies, analytics and local storage

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which tell one visit from the next and expire after two years. They are marked Secure and SameSite=Lax. No advertising cookies are used, and Google signals and ad personalization are switched off.

Microsoft Clarity sets two first-party cookies: _clck, which tells one visit from the next and expires after a year, and _clsk, which joins the pages of one visit into one recording and expires after a day. It may also set CLID on its own domain, clarity.ms, which recognizes your browser on other sites that use Clarity. We tell Clarity that advertising storage is not allowed, and the site blocks the Microsoft address that would set and sync its advertising identifier.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: analytics cookies are off by default. Clarity can't tell where you are, so it sets no cookies when your device is set to a European time zone.
Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends it, we treat it as a request to switch analytics off, and neither Google Analytics nor Clarity loads.
Do Not Track: there is no agreed standard for it, so the site does not respond to it. Global Privacy Control is honored instead.

Analytics is on for this browser.

Your own browser also keeps a few small notes (local and session storage):

ej-motion remembers whether you paused the moving images. It is never sent to us.
ej-analytics remembers if you turned analytics off. It is never sent to us.
ej-arrival notes how you reached the site and the first page you opened. It is replaced when you return after 30 minutes away, and reaches us only as part of a program brief you send. It isn't kept if you switched analytics off or your browser sends Global Privacy Control.
ej-sent (session storage) notes for a moment that your form was sent, so the thank-you page can confirm it. It is deleted when that page opens, or when you close the tab.
ej-traffic exists only on our own staff's devices, to keep their visits out of the statistics and the recordings.

How long we keep it

Program briefs and the email that follows: three years after our last exchange with you, unless the brief becomes a program, in which case it is kept with that program's business records.
Job applications: four years from the day we receive each one, the minimum period California law requires employers to keep them.
Visit statistics: 14 months, the longest period Google Analytics 4 offers.
Visit recordings: 30 days, kept by Microsoft; recordings we save, and a random sample Microsoft keeps, up to nine months.
Server and security logs: for the period Netlify keeps them to run its service.

When a period ends, we delete the submission from Netlify and from our inbox.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you and what we have done with it;
correct it;
delete it;
stop contacting you.

Email eandjmanufacturingla@gmail.com with "Privacy request" in the subject, or call (310) 817-5489. To protect you, we confirm the request comes from you, usually by replying to the email address or phone number you used with us. We respond within 45 days.

You may ask someone to make the request for you, with your written permission. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act where it applies. One limit: California law requires employers to keep job applications for four years, so we can delete an application only after that period.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. Form submissions are visible only to the people who handle briefs and applications, and we delete them on the schedule above.

No website is perfectly secure, so please don't send confidential drawings through the form. If you need an NDA, ask for one in your brief before you send drawings.

Children

This site is for businesses and adult job seekers. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Visitors outside the United States

We are based in California, and the information you send is processed and stored in the United States.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use information you have already sent, we will say so on this page before it takes effect.
