A sunlit factory hall with lumber racks and upholstered pieces

Private-label furniture manufacturing

E and J Furniture builds upholstered furniture in its factory in Carson, Los Angeles County, and ships it under your name to all 50 states and internationally. You own the label, the catalog, the pricing and the customer. We run the frame shop, cut and sew, foam, finishing and shipping in-house.

How private label works here: Your brand goes on every piece, and exclusivity is set out in writing.

There is no minimum order: a program can start at a single piece. Lead time is 4–8 weeks, plus freight. Payment terms are 50% deposit at order, balance due before shipping.

The label is yours
Your brand goes on the piece, the tags, the cartons and the paperwork the end customer sees. Our name appears on none of it.
Drawing ownership is agreed in writing
Your program agreement names who owns the drawings, both the ones you send and any we develop with you.
Exclusivity is in writing
What is exclusive to you is set out in your program agreement. For a piece started from one of the 162 silhouettes in our library, the agreement also covers what other brands can still order.

Who private label fits: Private label suits a line you'll reorder under your own name.

  • 01

A brand launching a seating line

You have drawings or a clear reference and want us to build the first production run and each reorder, all checked against the approved sample.

  • 02

A retailer building an exclusive line

You want reorders sized to what sells, with no minimum order to meet.

  • 03

    A brand re-sourcing from overseas

The design is settled, and the problem is lead time, a minimum order you can't meet or a production run that arrived wrong and couldn't be fixed. Our lead time is 4–8 weeks, plus freight, and there's no minimum order. What happens if a run doesn't match the approved sample is set out in your program agreement.

A resimercial line, residential-style seating a brand sells into workplaces and multifamily buildings, runs as a private-label program like any other. For per-project work for one specific space, such as a restaurant or a hotel lobby, see our sister company, Trend Contract Furnishings.

Private-label questions: Who owns the design, and who else can buy it?

01

What does private-label furniture manufacturing mean?

Private-label furniture manufacturing means a factory builds furniture that is sold under another company's brand. We build, upholster, finish and ship the pieces; you supply the label, the catalog, the pricing and the customer relationship.

02

Is private label the same as white label?

No. White label means an existing, already-designed product is rebranded for you, and anyone else can buy the same piece. Private label means the piece is built to your specification and sold as yours, with what is exclusive to you set out in your program agreement.

03

Will our competitors be able to buy the same piece?

Not if your program agreement sets it out as exclusive to you. Where a program starts from a silhouette in our library, the agreement says which parts stay available to other brands and which become exclusive to you.

04

Who owns the drawings at the end?

Your program agreement names the owner, both for drawings you send and for any we develop with you. Settle it before the first sample is built.

05

Can we put an NDA in place?

Ask for an NDA before you send drawings, in your first email or your program brief. We don't name the brands we build for.

06

Can you match an existing piece we already sell?

Usually. Send the piece itself (one you have the rights to reproduce), or complete photographs and dimensions, and we'll draw it up and build a sample. Before you commit to a production run, we'll tell you where our version will differ.

07

How is a private-label program priced?

Every program is quoted, and nothing is priced publicly. The unit price is set by size and construction, materials and finish, packaging, quantity and how often the program reorders, and freight is priced separately. The pricing guide explains each factor, and what a quote needs lists what to send.

Next step

Send a brief for a line sold under your own name.

Include drawings, a photograph or a library silhouette's name and reference number, with the quantity and whether it reorders. After the quote, we build a sample for your sign-off, and production is checked against the approved sample.

Only your name and email are required. We reply by email with questions, or with a quote if the brief has enough to price.
